Concept vs Implementation II: The Wrath of Kahn

So today our elustriuos HR Generalist came up to my desk and started fiddling in a drawer, I paid her about as much attention as I always do. After she left, I realized that she had rearranged a couple of drawers, on which normally contained new-hire parking things and envelopes, she had taken all the the envelopes and thrown them in the big drawer at the bottem out of my reach. The envelopes and parking stuff have lived happily in that drawer since I started, so I moved the envelopes right back. when she came back I proceeded to tell her that I need those within arms reach and they are fine where they were at, and please inform me next time she moves my stuff around so I know where it is, she left in a huff. I got an email from my boss who got half the story, when I explained that I had to search for my stuff and there was no need for parking to have it's very own drawer she sided with me, which is surprising since a well reasoned arguement isn't typically recieved well in human resources.

Concept vs Implementation

So we have an HR generalist who has taken it upon herself to streamline procedure around the office, by streamline I mean create more work for me, It's a good concept but the implementation isn't going well for me. you see she doesn't understand the difference between what she wants the recruiters to do, color coating and what not, and what they really do. I tried to talk to her today about the difference and she got this vacant look on her face like i was speaking russian, I quickly gave up. And since I have no say over policy this shall continue unabated.

It's worse

so now thanks to the professional way my employer has handled the recent mumps cases I may have been exposed, I'll find out tommorow. This will mean that I can be sent home for a couple weeks without pay since I am still working with a staffing agency and there is no support mechanism in place for people in my predicament. I've been assured that my testing will be free but fat lot of good it does me should I seek treatment or want to pay for things like food and rent. I don't even have to catch it to get sent home, just be officially exposed. for those of you I've seen recently, you are in no danger since my exposure happened late last week and It's not until around 10 days that you can become contagious, and I won't be seeing you until this thing is cleared up. Except you donald who encouraged me to stay here even when I had a potentially had another opportunity, theres a big sloppy kiss with tongue in this for you, and a linkin' Log up the ass

A Journey Through the Seasons

I went to the Nickel Creek Concert last Thursday at Harrahs. It was an awesome show, with a few exceptions that had little to do with the performers.

First, who ever was lighting the show decided to use the projectors for evil rather than good. The theme, which I can only imagine the designer thought was "A Journey Through the Seasons with Nickel Creek" Included many weather related effects that were distracting at best. There were also two bar skanks rocking out. Also, judging by what the waitresses were wearing Harrahs is running some sort of prostitute rehab program.

High points include an absolutely hilarious rendition of Britney Spears' Toxic, to which even the dancing bar skanks could only look on in awe at the only song that their dancing would be appropriate for. For an encore the lead singer played, amazingly, a Bach concerto on the mandolin. The opening act was Ben Lee from Australia who turned out to be a good act, although I think I was sitting next to a guy who was there more to see Ben rather than Nickel Creek.
